Indreyi is a Gadwal cotton-silk in a lovely parrot green with a brilliant blue silk border and a pure jari pallu.
The saree, blouse, and pallu have been appliquéd with pen Kalamkari elephants
The border and pallu are in pure silk attached to the separately woven cotton body of the saree using the 'kuttu' technique.
These sarees, once the hallmark of Gadwal weaving technique, have become a rarity. It took us four trips and a mammoth effort to find them! Weavers tell us that it is hard to find labour for this specific technique.
