‘Pelli Pusthakam’ (literally, the journal of a wedding) is a classic Gadwal cotton in the Telugu bridal colours of white and red. The body is a pristine white with a silk border of cherry red and pure jari.
The border and pallu are in pure silk attached to the separately woven cotton body of the saree using the 'kuttu' technique.
Doesn't come with a blouse.
These sarees, once the hallmark of Gadwal weaving technique, have become a rarity. It took us four trips and a mammoth effort to find them! Weavers tell us that it is hard to find labour for this specific technique.
